Service Description
Recover & Renew Somatic Yoga Dates: Most Saturdays Time: 10:30-11:30am Instructor Facilitator: Elaine Gallas, Somatic Psychotherapist, RYT, Director of PRANA Yoga Studio Class Description: Recover & Renew Somatic Yoga with Elaine Gallas - This deeply restorative practice is designed to help your body and mind reset from stress and return to a state of ease. The first half of class focuses on gentle, somatic movements and breath practices that send powerful signals of safety to your nervous system. These include vagal toning—simple techniques that support your vagus nerve, the body’s built-in communication system that helps regulate stress, digestion, and emotional balance. Like strengthening a muscle, vagal toning makes it easier to come back to calm when life feels overwhelming. Once the body has softened and opened, the second half of class invites you into long, supported restorative stretching poses. These postures release tension from muscles and the mind. In everyday life, our bodies contract into tightness from stress, overthinking, or holding ourselves in protective patterns, and the mind tends to follow. By resting deeply in supported poses, this creates a sense of spaciousness, lightness, and relief in both body and mind. Who is this for? This class is for anyone seeking: • A nervous system “reset” after stress, busyness, or overwhelm. • Gentle somatic tools to help release stuck tension or stress responses in the body. • A soothing balance of mindful movement and restorative stillness. • Practices that foster a felt sense of safety, deep rest, and nervous system health & flexibility. • A nurturing space for relaxation, even if you feel too wired or restless for stillness. Therapeutic Benefits Include: ~ Nervous System Regulation to help shift out of survival mode and into a state of calm and restoration. ~ Vagal Toning through breath, sound, and gentle movements to promote calm and improve capacity and recovery from stress. ~ Release of Stored Stress with somatic release movements to let go of protective tension patterns. ~ Deep Rest & Reset for your whole system to settle, recover, renew.
