Service Description
Embodied Yin Yoga Date: Saturdays once per month Time: 10:30am-11:45am Instructor Facilitator: Jen Rizza, RYT, Yin & Restorative specialty, Reiki Master Teacher Class Description: Embodied Yin Yoga - In this 75 minute therapeutic yin yoga practice, you will be guided through varying postures to promote stillness and quiet within. Yin yoga invites mindful presence and reflection; it is both a physical and mental practice of finding your 'edge' and learning where you can safely test your limits, learning to discern between self doubt and the possibility of discovery. Yoga shapes are held for extended durations, allowing the body time to begin to relax into the position, lengthening connective fascia tissue. Postures will be offered with modifications for your body and ability level. Who is this for: A yin practice is a slower and more reflective complement to the traditional ‘yang’ style of dynamic Western yoga. After the effects of efforting, it’s in taking time for recovery and rebound, rest and mental strengthening, that balance of the nervous and energy systems can be restored. If you’re feeling overhelmed, stressed, stuck in habits or patterns, are looking for a space to reflect, and/or want to practice quieting the chatter of the mind and learning to gracefully surrender, Yin is a beautiful and supportive practice! Therapeutic benefits include: ~ Lengthening and stretching the body ~ Building greater mental strength and resilience ~ Opening space for personal discovery through stillness ~ Relieving stress and detoxing the body Learn more about Yin yoga here, from Jen's lineage with Bernie Clarke: https://yinyoga.com/ Newtown Wellness Collective practices body awareness & mindful movement, encouraging students to meet themselves where they are, with compassion and loving acceptance.
