Service Description

Embodied Yin Yoga: Stretch, Release, Renew, Expand Date: First Friday of the month Time: 6:30-8pm Instructor Facilitator: Jen Rizza, RYT Advanced Teacher of Therapeutic Yoga, Yin & Restorative specialty, Reiki Master Teacher Class Description: Embodied Yin Yoga - In this 90 minute yin yoga practice, you will be guided through varying supported postures to deeply stretch and expand both the body and the mind. Through a yin practice, there is a softening of edges, promoting stillness and quiet within to connect with your body & its wisdom. Yin yoga invites mindful presence and reflection to release and renew, learning to explore your 'edge' and where you can safely test your limits, discerning between self doubt and the possibility of discovery. Through practicing on the mat, we build skills to apply to life off-the-mat. In a yin practice, yoga shapes are held for extended durations, allowing the body time to begin to relax and release into the position, lengthening connective fascia tissue. Postures will be offered with modifications for your body and ability level, meeting you where you are and cultivating wise discernment. Who is this for: A yin practice is a slower and more reflective complement to the traditional ‘yang’ style of dynamic Western yoga. After a busy work week of 'efforting,' this is space to take time for rest and recovery. If you’re feeling overhelmed, stressed, stuck in habits or patterns, are looking for a space to reflect, and/or want to practice quieting the chatter of the mind and learning to gracefully surrender, Yin is a beautiful and supportive practice! Therapeutic benefits include: ~ Lengthening and stretching the body ~ Building greater mental strength and resilience ~ Opening space for personal discovery through stillness ~ Relieving stress and detoxing the body Learn more about Yin yoga here, from Jen's lineage with Bernie Clarke: https://yinyoga.com/ Newtown Wellness Collective practices body awareness & mindful movement, encouraging students to meet themselves where they are, with compassion and loving acceptance.
