Service Description
Dates: Saturdays Time: 11:30-12:45 Facilitator: Sam Bassett, LPC, CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional/Master’s level Dance & Movement Therapist/Yoga Instructor) Class Description: Restore and recharge in this beautifully layered practice that bridges supportive alignment with somatic freedom. This class is thoughtfully designed to deepen your connection with your body, build sustainable strength, and support nervous system regulation. By blending alignment-based practices with fluid, intuitive movement, you are invited to release tension, cultivate awareness, and return to a greater sense of ease. Who is this class for? ~Desk workers and those with sedentary habits looking to support posture, mobility, and release patterns of chronic tension. ~Athletes and active individuals seeking to build quiet, deep stabilizer strength and support joint health. ~Anyone experiencing stress or burnout who wants to support their nervous system through mindful movement, body awareness, and deep relaxation. ~Students of all experience levels who crave a balance of clear, supportive alignment cues and the freedom to explore intuitive, fluid motion. The Harmonious 5 Elements: ~Iyengar-Inspired Alignment: Clear, intentional cues and supportive prop placement to create structural awareness, encourage stability, optimize joint space, and ground your attention. ~Gentle Isometrics: Build quiet, deep stability with mindful muscle engagement. Through subtle, static practices, you will awaken and strengthen stabilizer muscles while cultivating a resilient physical foundation. ~Slow, Purposeful Flow: Transition into mindful sequencing where breath guides movement. This slow-tempo flow allows you to feel each transition, gently warming the body and tracking your awareness through space. ~Intuitive Movement: Explore beyond the rigid lines of traditional postures. You will be supportively guided to discover free-form ripples, sways, and micro-movements, tuning into what your body is communicating and what feels supportive in the moment. ~Deep Relaxation: Transition into complete stillness. The practice concludes with an extended Savasana, creating space for your body and nervous system to integrate the benefits of the class. Participants can expect to leave class feeling recharged, strong, and serene. Newtown Wellness Collective practices body awareness & mindful movement, encouraging students to meet themselves where they are, with compassion and loving acceptance.
